Windsor COPE and Emergency

Preparedness

The COPE (Citizens Organized to Prepare for Emergencies) program is being implemented in Windsor to assist its residents in understanding, preparing for, and responding to emergencies like wildfires, earthquakes, flooding and more. COPE was started in Sonoma County in 2017 and is based on “neighbors helping neighbors.”

One of the most important aspects of COPE is that you and your neighbors will be ready and equipped to assist each other in an emergency when no one else is available to help. By joining Windsor COPE, you will have access to up-to-date communications during emergencies and receive critical emergency preparedness information, like the COPE emergency preparedness guidebook for Windsor.

Our Windsor program is part of COPE Northern Sonoma County, which works closely with Sonoma County Department of Emergency Management, Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District, Sonoma County Fire District, CAL FIRE, Supervisor James Gore and other agencies. For more about COPE Northern Sonoma County go to  https://copenorthernsonomacounty.com.

“With the great success of our local COPE programs preparing our community for disasters, I strongly support the development of the Windsor COPE program."  ~ Supervisor James Gore.  For more endorsements, click HERE.

Become a COPE neighborhood leader

The COPE program is facilitated by neighborhood leaders who provide guidance to 10 to 20 houses in their immediate neighborhood. These neighborhood leaders work with the Windsor COPE community leader who represents the larger community.

Windsor COPE provides neighborhood leaders with the leadership handbook, education, and guidance to organize and prepare their Neighborhood Team for potential emergencies. To learn more about becoming a leader, join COPE and check the box to let us know you're interested!
